SALTED CARAMEL MACA HOT CHOCOLATE
Happy January and 2018! I cannot believe that it is a new year! #newyearsameme. It has been especially cold the last few weeks of December, which allowed for the lake by our house to freeze over. The hubby and I went ice fishing (but did not catch anything but freezing fingers and toes!) We came home and I went straight into the kitchen and made this delicious hot chocolate! The kicker: it contains salted caramel chocolate, cacao powder and maca powder. Completely gluten free, dairy free, paleo and vegan. YUM!
Cacao is the purest form of chocolate and it’s packed with antioxidants, fiber and magnesium. Maca has a malty vanilla flavor and it can help your mood and balances hormones. For me, it offers a little pick me up that is similar but not as extreme as coffee. Perfect for an extra boost! Please note, I am not a nutritionist and you should consult your doctor before consuming.
Topped this drink with some coconut whipped cream and some extra sprinkles of dark chocolate chips making this a rich, smooth and dark chocolatey drink.
SALTED CARAMEL MACA HOT CHOCOLATE
This rich, smooth and dark chocolatey drink is dairy free, gluten free, paleo and vegan.
3 cups Almond milk ((or milk of choice))
1.5 ounce Cacao baking chips
1 ounce Loving Earth Salted Caramel Chocolate bar
2 tbs Cacao powder
2 tbs Maple syrup ((or to desired sweetness))
1.5 tbs Maca powder
1/8 tsp Sea salt
In a small saucepan, mix the chocolates, cacao powder, and 1 cup almond milk over low heat. Stir continuously until all the chocolate has melted.
Add the remaining 2 cups milk, maca powder and sea salt. Stir and allow to heat all the way through.
Stir in maple syrup to desired sweetness. Pour into 2 mugs and top with coconut whipped cream and more cacao nibs!
